National Johnny Appleseed Day

The 11th of March is one of two dates chosen to commemorate the life of John Chapman, known better to posterity as “Johnny Appleseed.” Chapman was an early pioneer who took the Gospel and Apples into the 18th and 19th century U.S. frontier of  Pennsylvania, (modern day) West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. An early conservationist, Chapman was green long before it was cool.
